Airports
Distances are approximate road miles from central Evanston; the times are estimates for a normal day and will move with traffic, weather and roadworks. We plan every airport pickup from the flight, not from the clock.
O'Hare from Evanston means the Edens and I-294, or Dempster and Touhy across when the expressway is stopped — either way it is longer than the map suggests, because there is no fast east-west road out of the North Shore. Midway is the whole length of the city and should be treated as an hour in anything but the middle of the night.

Half of this town's demand arrives from out of state four times a year with luggage, relatives and a hotel booking made ten months ago. Book those weekends early — that is not a sales line, it is a dispatch constraint.
Move-in weekend in September, parents' weekend, and commencement in June. Families flying into O'Hare with a term's worth of belongings want an SUV or a Sprinter, not two sedans. These dates sell out weeks ahead across the whole Chicago market.
